AUBREY56

Guide · Method · Trust

You do not need to understand the whole sky.

AUBREY56 keeps the astronomical complexity inside the instrument. You meet one represented moment, one Current Gate and—when you choose—one question.

Start here

Three surfaces. One instrument.

The primary product is deliberately small. NOW shows the represented sky. ASK lets a question meet that fixed moment. CIRCLE remembers only what you explicitly choose to keep.

NOW

See where the sky places this moment.

Current Gate, Sun, Moon, next Gate boundary and contextual depth. The Gate is astronomical structure plus an authored interpretive name.

ASK

Bring one real question.

The question does not create or change the Gate. It selects the interpretive lens through which the already-existing Moment is read.

CIRCLE

Keep only what matters.

Saved Moments, your own notes and Threads you explicitly name. Recurrence is factual; AUBREY56 does not diagnose a pattern or turn it into destiny.

Today

The daily reading now lives inside NOW.

Today is the successor to the earlier Daily Gate experience, but it is no longer a competing top-level screen. It takes the Current Gate that already exists for the represented moment and gives it one daily interpretive layer: Essential Lens, an authored Truth Thought, one question and one conscious movement.

What did not change

Today never creates a different Gate. It reads the same astronomical Current Gate already shown by NOW.

Upcoming Sky

Look ahead without turning astronomy into prediction.

Upcoming Sky lists the next supported lunar phase thresholds, equinoxes and solstices in the represented local time. Those core thresholds are calculated by AUBREY56 itself. Solar and lunar eclipses are added only after a more detailed location-aware calculation confirms that the event is visible from the represented place.

Performance boundary

Upcoming Sky is not loaded at startup. The detailed eclipse calculation is requested only when you open it, so NOW remains the fast first experience. If that detailed layer is temporarily unavailable, lunar and seasonal thresholds remain available.

ASK · facets · Sigil

One Moment can be read from more than one facet.

ASK freezes the calculated Moment before the question is interpreted. Reveal another facet changes only the interpretive facet; it never recalculates the Gate. The Moment Sigil is a deterministic visual signature of that saved encounter. It predicts nothing and the same saved Sigil can be rendered again in CIRCLE. The outer ring represents the field of fifty-six possibilities and marks the calculated Gate; the inner geometry is deterministically shaped by the question, selected facet and the represented Sun–Moon relationship. Tap or click the Sigil itself (or “What am I seeing?”) to open its short explanation.

Keep this moment

Your question is not stored merely because you type it or read an answer. It enters CIRCLE only when you explicitly choose Keep this moment. On a normal HTTP/HTTPS site the save is read back and verified before AUBREY56 confirms it.

Method

Why there are 56 Gates.

AUBREY56 crosses seven solar states with eight lunar phases. The result is a deterministic position in a 56-part field for the represented time and place.

Calculated

Time, represented place, Sun, Moon, Gate, Axis geometry and supported Exceptional Sky relationships come from bounded calculation.

Interpretive

Gate names, Essential Lens, Truth Thought and reading language belong to AUBREY56’s authored interpretive layer.

Reconstructed

Ancient Sky presents a bounded Deep Time reconstruction of the historical sky. It is not an archaeological observation and does not prove prehistoric stellar intent.

Personal

Your question, note and explicit Thread belong to you. AUBREY56 does not infer a private story from them.

Provenance marks

Inside the instrument these categories are kept compact: C = Calculated, I = Interpretive, P = Personal, R = Reconstructed and E = Established. Tap a mark for its short definition. Colour is secondary; the letter always carries the category.

Permanent boundary

The sky determines the Gate. Your question determines the lens. Exceptional events and stellar context can deepen a Moment, but they never override the Gate.

Depth

Knowledge appears where the relationship lives.

Axis, Stellar Witness, Ancient Sky and Exceptional Sky remain contextual. There is no fourth primary navigation destination for them.

Axis

Orientation beneath movement.

The celestial pole provides a geometric orientation. Polaris may be a present northern marker; the Axis itself—not the star—is the enduring geometry.

Stellar Witness

Silence unless a real threshold is met.

A single curated star may appear when a restrained geometric condition exists. When none exists, AUBREY56 shows nothing.

Ancient Sky

The monument remains. The sky has moved.

Open the reconstructed sky above the represented place and travel across epochs from deep antiquity through the near future, currently to 2100 CE, so precession becomes perceptible without becoming an archaeological claim.

Exceptional Sky

Real rarity, quietly recognised.

Local solar and lunar eclipses can add factual context. Solar eclipse detail includes eye-safety guidance. No event means no event UI.

About

A modern instrument, disciplined by an ancient number.

AUBREY56 takes its name from the fifty-six Aubrey Holes at Stonehenge. It does not claim that those pits were ancient “Gates” or that this modern 7 × 8 system reconstructs a lost prehistoric religion. Stonehenge is an astronomical and conceptual reference; the product’s Gate architecture is contemporary.

Privacy

Local-first personal memory.

Saved Moments, questions you explicitly keep, notes and Threads are stored in this browser on this device. AUBREY56 Core does not require an account or cloud sync. Clearing browser site data may remove local history, so export a backup if the memory matters to you.

Location

Device location is requested only after you explicitly choose it. The current NOW implementation keeps precise device coordinates in the browser session rather than persisting them as a general preference.

Data / Export

Your Circle should be portable by choice.

Create a complete JSON backup, merge a compatible backup back into this browser, or explicitly delete all AUBREY56 personal history stored here.

Accessibility & settings

Only settings that genuinely improve the instrument.

AUBREY56 respects the operating system’s reduced-motion preference and offers one local override shared by NOW, ASK, CIRCLE and this Guide. The earlier prototype also exposed custom large-text, high-contrast and start-screen controls; those are deliberately not restored here because browser/OS zoom and contrast support are more reliable, and NOW remains the canonical starting surface of the product.

Place preferences

Choose the represented place directly from NOW. Preset places can be remembered without storing precise device coordinates; device location remains session-scoped.
